Since 1984, Management Cornerstones Inc. has combined the talents
of the principals with several other professionals. The principals
have extensive backgrounds in establishing, managing, governing
and consulting to all types of nonprofits. Educational degrees at
both undergraduate and graduate levels complement the practical
experience of working with more than 3,000 nonprofit organizations.

through projects that the firm has completed for its clients.
Philanthropy
For the Siebert
Lutheran Foundation in Milwaukee, Management Cornerstones
facilitated a strategic planning process.
For the Greater
Milwaukee Foundation, we studied the feasibility of addressing
six issue areas involving nonprofit management. In a subsequent
assignment, we completed a business plan for three of the issue
areas.
For the Chicago
Community Trust, a principal provided interim staff support
for its education grantmaking program. We also evaluated the Trust's
arts grantmaking program for small and mid-sized organizations.
Social Services
For the National
Association of CONTACT Directors, Atlanta, we provided
a day-long training institute for Executive Directors on planning,
Board development, human resource management, and fundraising.
For the Lakefront
SRO Corporation, Chicago, we developed a three-year fundraising
plan, including a system to attract in-kind resources; assisted
in creating a human resources department; and, consulted on organizational
development issues.
For Interfaith
Caregiving Network of Waukesha, we worked with the Board and
staff to revise the Board development process and produce an annual
plan.
For the Society
for Adolescent Medicine in Kansas City, we facilitated several
Board retreats on organizational development; produced an annual
plan; and, trained the Board in fundraising.
For Jobs
for Youth/Chicago, we conducted an audit of marketing and
employer services; facilitated a long-range planning process;
and, instituted a program planning and evaluation process as part
of a major program expansion.
Arts & Culture
For the Illinois
Arts Council, we designed a statewide technical assistance
system to address the needs of arts organizations; wrote a booklet
on Board orientation for widespread distribution; presented a
training series for the staff; conducted a series of training
sessions on Board development and fundraising for arts groups
throughout the state.
For the Latin
American Museum of Arts in Chicago, we conducted an arts and
cultural needs assessment of the Hispanic community.
For the Hannibal,
Missouri Arts Council, we designed and facilitated a planning
process to establish a community cultural center.
For Pegasus
Players in Chicago, we analyzed production and financial capacity;
assisted in assessing the impact of a change in theater location;
assisted in developing an integrated budgeting process; and, produced
a three-year strategic plan.
For business
leaders in Hillsdale MI, we assessed the potential for a community
arts center.
For the Chicago
Community Trust, we conducted an evaluation of its grantmaking
program to small and mid-sized arts organizations.
Community and Economic Development
For the Corporation
for Cultural ReInvestment, we conducted a feasibility study
on the program and market potential of establishing a business
incubator for nonprofit arts organizations; designed, and subsequently
co-founded the incubator, which has been in operation for over
15 years.
For Associates
for Roscoe Village Enterprise, Chicago, we established this
community development corporation; supervised several marketing
studies; chaired a neighborhood business planning task force;
and, served on numerous committees.
For the Northwest
Side Community Development Corporation in Milwaukee, we trained
the Board, assisted in evaluating programs, and facilitated development
of a strategic plan.
Health Services
For the Society
for Adolescent Medicine, we facilitated several Board retreats
on organizational development; produced an annual plan; and, trained
the Board in fundraising.
For the Milwaukee
Health Services, we conducted a management audit.
Education
For the National
Association for the Advancement and Education of Cambodian, Laotian,
and Vietnamese Americans, we facilitated a comprehensive
long-range planning process.
For the Rochelle
Lee Fund, we helped to realize their long-term goals, with
the help of a written planning document.
For Spanish
Coalition for Jobs, we conducted a feasibility study on the
expansion of educational programs.
